About our exterior trim
Trim is where most exterior rot starts. Fascia behind a gutter, the bottom of a corner board, a window sill that holds water: these are the places water sits. We replace and rebuild soffit, fascia, rake boards, corner boards and window and door casings, in cellular PVC that does not rot or in wood where the house calls for it.
Trim can be done on its own or alongside new siding, and custom profiles can be matched to what is already on the house.

We look at every elevation, note the details worth keeping, and tell you what we expect to find behind the old material before we quote.

Remove and inspect
Old trim and any wrap come off, and we check the framing behind it.

Repair and rebuild
Rotted framing repaired, then new trim installed with joints sealed and fasteners set.

Inspection, cleanup and walkthrough
Municipal inspection, a magnet sweep for fasteners, and a final walk around the house with you before we invoice.

Exterior Trim questions
PVC or wood trim?
PVC does not rot and holds paint well, so it is our default at the places water sits. On a historic house, or where a profile has to match original wood exactly, we use wood and detail it to shed water.
Do you use subcontractors?
The installation is done by our own crew. We tell you in writing if any specialist trade is involved on your job.
Do you pull the permits?
Yes. We file with your building department and schedule the inspections. We are licensed under Massachusetts HIC #204634.
What happens if you find rot once the old material is off?
You see it before we cover it. Repairs are charged at the rate agreed in the written quote, so nothing is renegotiated mid-job.
